What is a Marriage Friendly Therapist?
A marriage friendly therapist is one who values life-long commitment to a partner and will work hard to help you preserve your marriage if at all possible. You might think that all marriage therapists are marriage friendly, but this is not the case. There are many who are neutral about whether or not the marriage continues and who might very well recommend separation. It is my belief that very rarely is a marriage or long term relationship "hopeless," as long as both partners are willing to listen, to take responsibility, and to try to make desired changes. Every marriage has issues and trouble spots, just as no individual is perfect. However, the rewards of long term intimacy, and of family stability where children are involved, are well worth the effort.
